What I liked
I liked learning about the selling techniques and customer service. And the employee discount was a nice perk.
What I wish was different
This internship was 85% retail (working on the sales floor) and 15% management; for me, it was too much selling and working as a sales person than actual "retail management".
Advice
Make sure to get outside of your comfort zone and be able to sell.

It’s all about what you make of it. Nordstrom essentially provides you a space to conduct your own business. I ended up making great connections for future jobs and internships by being the best salesperson I could be.

Very supportive team to work with. High level of sale competion for comission so I was able to earn good experience in sales. Also Nordstrom highlights on their strict customer service policy so I gained strong experiecne in this area as well.

What I liked
The job was very quick paced. There was always something to do and my team served as support for the entire store which was super rewarding! My passion for fashion also grew so much while working for Nordstrom.
What I wish was different
The shifts got to be very long during anniversary sale: 10 hours sometimes.
Advice
The only piece of advice I can give is for the interview- speak about fashion as a passion and talk a bit about Nordstrom as a whole. Know their mission and what's up and coming within the company because they're always changing to stay customer-obsessed.

What I liked
I was given a lot of responsibility that allowed me to grow on my own, but I also received a large amount of support from my coworkers and managers towards reaching my goals! Nordstrom taught me a lot about the tremendous amount of work and effort it takes to deliver optimal customer experiences.
What I wish was different
I would not have changed too much about the experience. If anything, I would have enjoyed seeing more coaching and education about job opportunities moving forward from the sales associate level!
Advice
Keep your big picture in mind and study how your experience will give your relevant learnings for your future! Retail sales is an amazing and complicated world that can provide anyone with a lot of challenges and knowledge to take with you.

Loved styling and selling designer products, as well as spreading my love for shopping to my customers.
What I wish was different
Wish the base pay was higher, and that customers were more aware that we were commission based. Too many of my sales happened when I wasn't there.
Advice
Stick to your personal taste, and envision yourself as the customer. Wear comfortable shoes too!
