Entry Level Environmental Scientist (Colorado)

Entry Level Environmental Scientist, Engineer, or Geologist – Earth Systems

Earth Systems Inc. is an environmental consulting and engineering firm that supports regulatory agencies and private clients in the performance of hazardous waste and petroleum assessment and remediation. Our areas of expertise include Environmental Engineering, Contamination Assessment and Remediation, Environmental Compliance, Property Transfer Assessments, and Permitting. We are looking for a creative, energetic, and knowledgeable Environmental Engineer or Geologist with a wealth of industry experience and a talent for process optimization. To be a successful candidate, you should be communicative, observant, organized, and committed to reaching project goals. You should also possess strong interpersonal, time management, and presentation skills. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Groundwater and Soil Sampling.
  • Supervise and participate in contamination assessment activities including the installation of soil borings and monitoring wells.
  • Soil, Water, and Air Permitting and Compliance.
  • Design, install, and operate remedial systems that effectively treat hazardous waste and hydrocarbon impacted soil and groundwater.
  • Help with Contractor Oversight during Environmental Emergency Response.
  • Preparing Assessment/Remediation Reports.
  • Miscellaneous Regulatory Permitting.
  • Helping with the development of client specific Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans (SPCC) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).

This position would require approximately 75% travel within North Dakota and surrounding states.

Required Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, related environmental/engineering field, or equivalent experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • This is an entry level position 1+ years of experience is a plus.
  • Current OHSA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Must have a safe driving record and a valid Driver's License and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy.

  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities.
  • Independently problem solve and work autonomously with a sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional writing, grammatical and verbal communication skills.
  • Required knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (Microsoft Office and Adobe).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint preferred.

Salary: $50,000 to $65,000
