After School Program Director

Location: North Side Community School
The After School Program Director at North Side Community School is responsible for the overall management and coordination of after school programming including the elementary after-care program and extended day programming for grades 2 through 8. This position includes overseeing the development and implementation of academic and enrichment activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of students, managing staff, and maintaining effective communication with parents and the community. The After School Program Director will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and state regulations, as well as fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
 

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000


Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Management:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee academic and enrichment activities that align with state academic standards and support the school's goals for both the school’s grant funded After Care Program and Grades 2 – 8 Extended Day Program.
  • Create and maintain a detailed schedule for daily program activities, ensuring a balance of academic support and enrichment opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through regular assessment and data analysis, making adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes.
     

2. Staff Management:

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise aftercare program staff, ensuring all team members are qualified and capable of delivering high-quality services.
  • Provide ongoing professional development and support to staff, including regular training sessions and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting staff retention an professional growth.


3. Student Safety and Well-being:

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all students participating in the aftercare program.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for student check-in, transitions between activities, and dismissal to always ensure student safety.
  • Address any behavioral or safety concerns promptly and effectively, working with staff, students, and parents as needed.


4. Family and Community Engagement:

  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on program activities and student progress.
  • Encourage parent and family involvement in the program through regular events, surveys, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and partners to enhance program offerings and resources.

 

5. Grant Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and state regulations, including data collection, reporting, and evaluation processes.
  • Work with external evaluators to assess program progress and outcomes, using findings to refine and improve program effectiveness.
  • Manage program budget and resources effectively, ensuring that expenditures align with grant guidelines and program goals.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in educational program management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of best practices in afterschool programming, including academic enrichment and student engagement strategies.
  • Ability to analyze data and use findings to inform program development and improvement.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all program participants.
