Associate Editor

Location: East Windsor, NJ (2 days in-office/3 days’ work-from-home) or fully remote depending on location)

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our growing team as an Associate Editor. In this role you will focus on the development and delivery of multimedia educational content for health care professionals.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Content Development

  • Develop original content (based on both website and journal content) as needed and directed, including but not limited to news summaries, interviews, videos, podcasts, and roundtables.
  • Research and monitor trends in the field to identify topics of interest to audience.
  • Cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders from all medical disciplines.
  • Monitor metric trends to assist in content development decisions.
  • Assist in development of publication content as needed.

 

Copyediting and Editorial Production

  • Copyedit and fact-check assigned peer-reviewed papers and other associated content in AMA style.
  • Work with management to ensure all manuscripts and submitted content fit within Consultant’s and Consultant360’s clinical mission.
  • Maintain author communications throughout the editorial process.
  • Have a clear understanding of all editorial, production, and publication promotion schedules.
  • Maintain proficiency in article flows and Editorial Manager system capabilities, including: evaluating article/manuscript submissions, identifying and adding peer reviewers, working with management to assess submissions, evaluating initial reviewer decisions, and tracking and reporting submission analytics

 

Digital Production

  • Develop clear understanding of the platform’s e-newsletter process.
  • Build, schedule, and deploy platform e-newsletters as needed.
  • Work with the digital operations team to fulfill goals and content needs for sponsored campaigns.
  • Develop working knowledge of HMP’s content management system.
  • Develop working knowledge of the platform’s content types.
  • Post select content on the platform’s website.

 

Social Media/Data Analytics

  • Regularly track and report on website analytics.
  • Work with management to execute the brand’s social media schedule and help identify content to post to social media (LinkedIn and Twitter).
  • Regularly track and report on social media analytics

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a 4-year college degree in a related field (Journalism, English, Biomedical Science, etc.).
  • Minimum 2 years of professional/internship experience in medical publishing.
  • Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Familiar with clinical content.
  • Familiar with AMA style or similar style guides.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and HTML.
  • Comfort with digital platforms; knowledge of content management systems.
  • Experience with peer review and editorial management software (preferred).
  • Understanding of digital content strategies.
  • Proficiency in multimedia content development and editing.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects at the same time with tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Travel to conferences and events as directed by management – 6-8 times per year.

 

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Colorado, New York City, California, and Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $55,000.00 and $60,000.00. Benefits for this role include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term, and long-term disability, and life insurance.
