Station Director, Ground Handling

At Piedmont Airlines, our strength is the way we deliver industry-leading service to our customers and airline partners. To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable leader to join our team as a Station Director in our Ground Handling Department. The primary responsibility of the position is to set performance goals, hold managers to a strategic budget plan, and promote safe operations throughout their region. This person will have proven leadership skills, be an excellent communicator, and possess strong relationship building skills. This position will report to the Vice President, Ground Handling. 

 

Essential Duties:

  • Oversee a team of Regional Managers from multiple locations, with varied duties based on their station activity
  • Focus on support and compliance in vendor handled stations
  • Guide management staff with labor relations, operations efficiency, maintenance, facility oversight, safety, and security
  • Set performance objectives
  • Ensure the operational activities of the regions are adhered to in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Administrative duties to include daily/weekly/monthly reports

 

Job Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Functional knowledge of airport operations
  • Five (5) years of senior level leadership experience with an airline
  • Extensive knowledge of Piedmont’s policy guides, handbooks, and contracts
  • Knowledge of budgeting principals and standard guidelines
  • Excellent understanding of Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Prior experience with internal controls processes for accountable items
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation, business, or another related field

 

Work Environment:

  • Standard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipment
  • Airport ramp environment, subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levels
  • All shifts including weekends, nights, holidays, and/or irregular shifts
  • Extensive travel

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
