Position Title: Class C Driver

Organization: Jewish Family Service of San Diego

Department: On the Go

Position Type: Half-Time (18.75 – 29.75 hours/week), Non-Exempt

Work Setting: Onsite

Reports To: Transportation Manager

Pay Range: $17.14- $18.21/hour

Total Compensation: 

In addition to standard pay, compensation for this position includes:

Position Overview: 

JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the On the Go team as the Class C Driver. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your customer service skills and safe driving experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Class C Driver plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by providing more than just a ride.  On the Go fuels connection, independence, and mobility.  This position reports directly to the Transportation Manager and works closely with the On the Go staff and the rest of the Aging & Wellness team.

Responsibilities:  

  • Provide safe and timely rides for older adults using excellent customer service
  • Maintain clean agency vehicles, wash as needed
  • Perform daily pre/post vehicle inspections
  • Report any vehicle/rider issues to Transportation Coordinator or Manager immediately
  • Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager

Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Valid Class C License
  • 2 years related transportation services to older adults
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to utilize both paper routing information and GPS
  • Ability to calculate daily mileage and record transit activity
  • Ability to operate wheelchair lift equipped agency vehicles
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Use a computer, keyboard, monitor, printer, smart phone, and GPS

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

  • Knowledge of the aging process and diversity preferred
