Technician II

Position Summary

The Technician II performs operational and technical work across multiple areas, ensuring safe and efficient execution of their job duties while promoting Pharmavite's Operating Values.  Sets up and operates production equipment, leads problem-solving efforts, drives process changes, performs equipment maintenance and participates in cross-functional teams and projects while increasing their department capabilities.

 

Responsibilities

         Communicates and aligns to ensure smooth flow of correct materials into site production operations in accordance with production schedules.

Performs all duties in compliance with safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices.

Identifies and performs adjustments to improve quality and production during operation to meet all requirements, including line speeds, daily production output, and required changeover times.

         Leads root cause problem-solving with urgency and ensures team uses Lean Methodologies such as 5S, fixing defects, completion of Clean, Inspect and Lubricate (CIL), and change-over reductions. Follows up on corrective actions.

         Leads and coordinates equipment changeovers and work assignments.

Sets up and operates equipment.

Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment by performing regular inspections and completing assigned preventive maintenance work orders.

         Learns to perform complex repairs by assisting in diagnosing and repairing equipment.

         Promotes a culture of safety within the team ensuring all members participate in required programs and attend scheduled departmental safety meetings.

         Leads, mentors, and develops team members to meet or exceed daily shift Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enable an agile workforce that is cross-trained on multiple pieces of equipment/processes and functions.

         Possess strong problem-solving skills, and the technical knowledge to troubleshoot production matters related to quality and/or operational issues while meeting deadlines.

         Maintains all required documentation including cleaning logs, maintenance logs, and production records.

         Utilizes a continuous improvement mindset, identifying key losses to improve throughput and yield. 

         Ensures that respective areas and departments are audit ready at any time.

         Performs other related duties as assigned to support business needs.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education 

HS Diploma or equivalent education and experience/knowledge required.

Certification

Must have or complete PIT (Powered Industrial Trucks) certification training.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of related experience and successful completion of the Pharmavite Technician Program. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

         Demonstrates the technical and administrative competence to initiate revisions to existing documents, troubleshoot existing procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

         Performs work consistently by adhering to established Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and customer requirements with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Job Instructions (JI).

         Application of basic math skills, to include addition, multiplication, and division to calculate and adjust equipment, calculate parameters, and quality control measures and the ability to do conversions and understand decimal placement according to requirements with use of electronic device.

         Demonstrated knowledge of regulated health, sanitation, and safety requirements.

         Physical ability to discern varieties of color, weights, flavor, and general appearance of product.

 

         Builds operational and technical mastery across a majority of equipment/areas as assigned by department.

         Demonstrates mechanical aptitude to inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, routine repairs on equipment, and complete required maintenance tasks.

         Perform advanced repairs and assist/diagnose to repair equipment.

Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices, safety practices and manufacturing standards ensuring accurate product count and correct labels for orders are used.

         Computer literate, able to use Microsoft applications and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

         Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with continuous change initiatives.

         Leads cGMP’s, safety practices, and operational goals to achieve performance objectives.

Flexibility to change work assignments, departments, and shift as needed based on business need.

 

Physical Requirements 

Stands and or walks for the full work shift, may have restricted flexibility to move from their stations unless relieved by others.  May perform repetitive job duties during training and rotations depending on assignment. Intermittently lifts and or move loads unassisted of up to 40 pounds and over 40 pounds with the use of pallet jacks (manual or powered), two-person lift, or other mechanical aids. Pulls/pushes boxes of product on/offline and/or pallets using pallet jack, hoists etc. Manual dexterity to manipulate equipment controls, production containers on a production line, and hand tools to assemble/disassemble parts of equipment and address quality variations. Required to walk up and down stairs and rolling platform with handrails. Role may include bending and scooping large quantities of products from the container and dumping into hopper above the head.

Environment

Constant exposure to noise levels loud enough to require employees to wear hearing protection. Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., sufficient to cause minor discomfort.  Operating conditions may vary by department and areas. Employee is required to wear all PPE, i.e., protective eye wear, hearing protection, hair net, safety shoes, uniforms, etc. for assigned department.

The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely by following standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering the health or safety of themselves or others.
