Life Scientist/Environmental Engineer/Physical Scientist - R1

Summary

This position is in Region 1, Air and Radiation Division, Air Permits, Toxics & Indoor Programs Branch. About Region 1.

This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to one of the duty stations stated in this announcement on a regular basis (location TBD after candidate selected).

Duties

At the entry level of this position, you will:

  • Serve as an Air Quality Modeler, performing scientific assessments, technical reviews, and modeling analyses covering a wide variety of meteorological, topographical, and source conditions and issues associated with ambient air quality monitoring.
  • Conduct air pollution studies using specialized dispersion modeling programs and statistical techniques to prepare technical support documents describing the studies and results.
  • Serve as the Air and Radiation Division’s technical resource on regulatory initiatives and other projects related to ambient air modeling, meteorology, and atmospheric science.

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses. NOTE: Career ladder promotions are not automatic, and all eligibility and qualifications requirements must be met in order to progress to the next grade level.
