ChildNet Youth & Family Services, Inc. is currently searching for Billing Support for our Behavioral Health Services program in Long Beach, CA.

Behavioral Health Services (BHS) provides comprehensive services including individual/group therapy for vulnerable children and their families. The Billing Support staff will be responsible for working in collaboration with the Assistant Billing Director, by providing billing support to ensure that all Department of Mental Health (DMH) billing requirements are handled efficiently and in a timely manner.

The Billing Support responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor DMH denials by generating SIFT reports on a specified day each week and/or as needed each week. Report DMH denials to the Assistant Billing Director monthly. Update spreadsheet on a weekly basis using SIFT Data and create quarterly billing totals report.
  • Assign newly enrolled clients to the appropriate funding source and immediately resolve issues that prevent duties from occurring within 24 hours in order to meet the required deadline. Transfer existing funding sources as needed within ChildNet’s Electronic Health Record.
  • Provide client daily totals to the Accounting department by designated day/time on a weekly basis.
  • Compile and report weekly billing totals to the BHS Director by designated date/time each week and/or as needed each week.
  • Update/Add client Medi-Cal CIN numbers in ChildNet’s internal EHR system.
  • Send Heat Tickets to DMH to resolve denial reasons when needed.
  • Monitor and process billing violations within ChildNet’s EHR to maximize billing revenue on specified day each week and/or as needed.
  • Cross-train in all areas of the department in order to provide coverage within the department, as needed.
  • Work cooperatively and cohesively with the Assistant Billing Director/Director in implementing new procedures and documentation; provide feedback and support.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

The Billing Support must have:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of medical billing experience is necessary.
  • Experience with CPT coding and/or completion of CPT certification/schooling.
  • Current or previous work experience within the mental health field.
  • Proficiency with Exym or another electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Possess self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills necessary to collaborate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office programs with a high proficiency in Excel, is required.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive information with the strictest confidentiality. Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • Department of Mental Health (DMH) experience is highly desired. (**Will pay the higher end of the salary scale for this experience.)

Hourly Range: $18.00-$30.00

*Pay rate will be determined based on qualifications, degree, experience, and/or a combination of those factors.*

All offers of employment with ChildNet Youth and Family Services, Inc. are contingent upon a post-offer, pre-hire medical clearance with an occupational physical, tuberculosis screening, and a negative drug test. A background clearance which consists of fingerprinting through the Dept. of Justice/FBI/Child Abuse Index Search is required. Underwriting requirements of this agency include keeping a valid California driver’s license, valid auto liability insurance on file, and maintaining a good driving record while employed.
