ChildNet Youth and Family Services is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our Administration department in Long Beach, CA.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of various county compliance reporting. This position will assist in monitoring county contract compliance filings and deadlines. They will work on expense reconciliations, assist in the monthly close, complete depreciation schedules, conduct budget variance analysis, and support the Controller in various duties and Ad-hoc assignments.

The Senior Accountant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Review/research monthly cost center revenue/expense variances for compliance and to identify any issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintain updated and relevant Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) knowledge, regulations and standards.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze depreciation schedules.
  • Assist in monitoring county contract compliance filings and deadlines. Review, recommend and adjust Accounting policies to remain compliant.
  • Evaluate and identify vulnerabilities within ChildNet’s accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Provide improvements and recommendations to align with industry best practices to senior management for consideration.
  • Assist with month-end close preparation; review and analyze GL, Trial Balance. Assist with balance sheet schedules, and income statement schedules where needed.
  • Review expense balances and reconcile to the GL.
  • Prepare various county compliance reports, as needed and/or requested.
  • Facilitate organization and prepare necessary documentation for external audits and reviews.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Periodic Assignments

  • Assist in preparation of annual CPA audit.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and CFO on company, department, and program budget preparation.
  • Ad-hoc assignments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The Senior Accountant must possess:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business/Accounting or related field AND valid California CPA license; OR
  • Master's degree in Finance/Business/Accounting or related field.
  • At least 3 years of accounting, general ledger (GL) functions, month-end/year-end close process, and financial reporting experience.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience as a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager is required.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of financial and cost reporting principles and practices are required.
  • Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge/skills of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, along with knowledge of various computerized accounting systems are necessary.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus.

A background clearance which consists of fingerprinting through the Dept. of Justice/FBI/Child Abuse Index Search is required. Underwriting requirements of this agency include keeping a valid California driver’s license, valid auto liability insurance on file, and maintaining a good driving record while employed.
