Summer Community Center Program Specialist
Position Details:
- Increase Community Engagement through Programming
- Operate the Lending Library and Computer Lab 3 days each week
- Research programming ideas from similar Community Center facilities
- Implement at least 1 new program
- Work with Roosevelt Community Partnership (RCP) to develop Minnie Fridge policies on cleaning, food collection and food distribution
- Asset Inventory
- Develop a comprehensive list of all equipment and supplies at Roosevelt
- Update Roosevelt MSDS book to include city and renters’ products
- Beautification project of hallways and bathrooms
- Contact local High to seek interest in creating public murals
- Work with selected school to design murals for hallway and former restroom windows
- Collect required materials and supplies for mural painting
Member Service Activities:
- Lead theme related camp activities for large group activity time
- Administer at least 3 theme-based camp games each week.
- Communicate the assistance required for Camp staff during game times
- Request, collect and maintain the supplies required for any game developed for camp.
- Develop a camp resource guide containing activities for school aged programs
- Develop a labeling system for resource to include items such as: to appropriate age, group size, space requirements, supply needs
- Coordinate instruction and supplies for small group activity time
- Incorporate 1 new gross motor program into camp schedules
- Audit camp schedules
- Research gross motor activities for school age children
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education or training in the field of education, museum studies, recreation, human service, child development, psychology, social work or related field
- Experience working with children and youth in a school educational setting
- An understanding of best practices in child development, behavior management, developmentally appropriate activities, child safety, etc.
