The Department of Revenue (DOR) has multiple openings for Property Assessment Technicians. These positions are in the Division of State and Local Finance (SLF), Equalization Bureau Offices. Currently, we have vacancies in our Wausau and Madison District Offices.

Position Summary

 

Property Assessment Technician 1
These positions provide administrative and technical support services to property appraisal, assessment, and administration staff in DOR District Offices. Duties involve working with property tax laws, assessment procedures, and IT systems and applications.

Property Assessment Technician 2
In addition to the duties performed at the 1 level, these positions assist in training other staff members in processes and systems. The work performed at this level is more independent in nature.

Salary Information

The starting pay rate at the 1 level, pay schedule-range 06-11, will be $21.45 an hour. The starting pay rate at the 2 level, pay schedule-range 06-12, is $23.20 an hour. Current state employees’ pay will be based on the provisions in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A twelve-month probationary period will be required.

 

Job Details

The level of the position will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate at the time of hire.

Due to the nature of these position’s duties, candidates will be subject to comprehensive background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application.

 

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Using computer programs for data entry (e.g., Microsoft Access, Excel, or similar software); and
  • Providing administrative support (e.g., answer phone calls, record keeping, report preparation, etc.); and
  • Performing basic mathematics (e.g., addition, multiplication, division, etc.).

Additionally, well-qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Working with a real estate transactions; or
  • Performing advanced mathematics (e.g., geometry, statistics, etc.).
