R&D Technician I

12-month contract with high possibility of extension
Pay rate: $24/hr. 
 
We are looking for a R&D Technician I to join one of our Fortune 500 client’s projects in Columbus OH. Analyses verbal or statistical data to prepare reports and studies for use by professional workers in a variety of scientific areas. May be proficient in qualitative and/or quantitative lab methods. Includes all levels of education and experience.

 Job Description:
The Product Development Lab Technician role, a Non Exempt position, involves providing support in the creation and refinement of nutritional liquid and powder products. This role encompasses various tasks, including product manufacturing in Pilot Plant facilities, coordinating analytical testing, conducting product evaluations, and effectively communicating experiment results. The ideal candidate should possess relevant educational background and experience in food development, analytical techniques, and lab operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Support product development for nutritional liquid and powder products by manufacturing products in Pilot Plant facilities. This involves performing batch calculations, creating manufacturing instructions, ordering and weighing ingredients, and assembling batches for processing and container filling.
Coordinate and manage analytical testing of products, which includes preparing testing protocols, managing purchase orders, compiling test results, and performing necessary unit conversions.
Conduct product evaluations encompassing powder oxidation studies, scoop delivery studies, and in-process testing of pH, viscosity, and total solids.
Organize and communicate experiment results effectively, preparing data tables, bills of materials, and manufacturing run summaries.
Collaborate effectively within a team atmosphere, contributing to the product development process.
Skills and Qualifications:

Proficiency in food development, including relevant analytical and lab experience.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science preferred; however, degrees in related scientific fields such as Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry will also be considered.
Relevant working experience will be considered for candidates with an Associate's degree; new graduates or soon-to-graduate candidates will also be reviewed.
Excellent communication skills to effectively present experiment findings and work collaboratively within a team.
Ability to work in an office environment and conduct hands-on tasks in lab and pilot plant settings.
