Staff Physical Therapist

  1. POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Physical therapist provides physical therapy services including patient evaluation, development and administration of an intervention plan, documentation and communication with physicians and other referral sources, and clinical guidance to non-professional personnel.  Provides therapy treatment, including wound care, in inpatient and outpatient setting as well other practice environments as necessary. 

 

  1. PRIMARY DUTIES

                Performs infant/child/adolescent/adult/older adult patient intervention and documentation.  (80%)

  • On-going modification of intervention and communicates with referral sources as necessary.
  • Intervention provided in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Accurately and promptly completes paperwork to ensure efficient handling of medical records.

            Performs infant/child/adolescent/adult/older adult physical therapy evaluation. (15%)

  • Documents significant findings, treatment diagnoses, goals, plan of care and discharge planning, 

       Enters charges daily and meets productivity standards as set by budgetary guidelines. (5%) 

             Assures quality patient care 

  • Through proper utilization of staff, equipment and programs offered through the Therapy Department or Syringa Hospital & Clinics.
  • Provides in-service education to hospital employees and the community. 
  • Assists with and participates in Performance Improvement program as required. 

 

All SHC healthcare professionals and employees are required to participate in mandatory training on EHR and Empower (Time & Attendance) and demonstrate basic competency in the functions applicable to their role; Competency in SHC’s EHR and Time & Attendance system is part of every SHC employee’s eligibility to work and/or admit patients to SHC.

                                                                                         

  1. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

 

  • The Staff Physical Therapist provides supervision to Physical Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides for patient care. 
  • Provides supervision and education to students and volunteers, including participation in clinical education of students for affiliating schools. 
  • Participates in department growth through active involvement in program development and/or marketing efforts. 
  • Maintains positive and professional relationships and rapport with coworkers, patients, family members, students, visitors and hospital personnel. 
  • The Staff Physical Therapist is under supervision of the Hospice Clinical Manager when treating hospice patients.

  1. EDUCATION/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS  

 

  • Minimum of Bachelor degree from an accredited school of physical therapy.
  • State licensure to practice physical therapy by the Idaho State Board of Medicine
  • Completed and cleared Idaho State background check. 
  • Experience/expertise in multiple treatment settings.
  • Annual attendance at continuing education and professional conferences.
  • Current Health Care Provider CPR certification.
