RF Validation Engineer

Overview

This position is for RF Validation Engineer in Skyworks’ Greensboro Design Center.  You’ll be working as part of an elite team of RF professionals creating the technology for next-generation cellular handsets and other wireless communication devices and applications.  Located in the heart of the Piedmont of North Carolina, Greensboro is a vibrant and rapidly growing city conveniently located midway between scenic mountains and world-class beaches.  As part of the greater Piedmont Triad, home to nearly 2 million people, Greensboro offers the diversity, culture, and conveniences of a large city with the low cost of living, light traffic, and friendliness of a small town. 

When you join our team in Greensboro, you will be part of a multi-discipline team developing PA, RF switches, LNA, front-end modules for the high volume and fast paced cellular handset market. You will have opportunities to participate in all phases of product development, including product definition, architecture, system budget, transistor-level circuit design, MCM design, layout/layout supervision, lab debug and production support.  Skyworks is one of the most cutting edge and impactful players helping people connect across the globe.  
 

Job Responsibilities

•    Work with a multidisciplinary team of PA, RF switch, LNA, Filter, and multi-chip module (MCM) designers to support fully integrated front-end module designs
•    Coordinate with test engineering (TE), systems engineering (SE), product engineering (PE), and design verification test (DVT) teams to characterize front-end modules (FEM) from initial design through high-volume production
•    Good communication skills both verbal and written and logical reasoning skills, capable of breaking down complex problems, setting priorities, reporting progress, and executing schedule
•    Create test files for component and die level verification using Skyworks proprietary software
•    Work with test engineering (TE) teams to create and debug test stations for various issues, such as noise floor limitations, new spec requirements, and improved test efficiency
•    Understand register maps and able to translate them to functional logic states

Qualifications

•    Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering + 2 years related work experience or MSEE
•    Good understanding of RF systems and familiarity with wireless standards including 3GPP cellular 2/3/4/5G/LTE, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth
•    Solid understanding of device and process technologies
•    Experience in system architecture, circuit topology, and MCM floorplan
•    Experience in FEM product development and customer interaction
•    Good understanding of acoustic filters such as SAW and BAW filters
•    Experience in co-sim of multiple technologies such as digital, analog, and RF circuits
•    Solid understanding of RF concepts such as impedance matching, impedance transformation, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth, and stability
•    Circuit simulation skills utilizing Agilent ADS/GoldenGate/spectreRF and 2.5/3D EM tools such as Momentum, Sonnet, or HFSS.
•    Experience with automated data analysis with C/C#/C++/Matlab/Python

•    Familiar with 3GPP MIPI protocols and ability to translate register maps into MIPI commands for complex FEMs

•    Familiar with lab instruments including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers, and Load-pull Tuners
