Public Relations Fellow

Business Insider is hiring a Public Relations Fellow to join our Communications team to support the Public Relations department.

This is a 3-6 month, full-time remote position working EST 40 hours a week, depending on the candidate’s schedule.

The Role & Team:
As the Public Relations Fellow, you will support the communications team to amplify Business Insider's brand and impactful coverage. The Public Relations fellow will have the opportunity to craft bespoke pitches and bring creative ideas to the table to promote Business Insider stories and journalists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the communications team: handle press clips, monitor media mentions, create media lists, compile coverage reports, oversee media trackers, draft talking point docs, etc.
  • Research and recommend new broadcast shows and outlets for pitching.
  • Monitor media coverage to ensure accuracy and proper crediting of Business Insider.
  • Develop strategic Public Relation plans for editorial projects and stories, and help draft bespoke pitches and media lists accordingly.
  • Stay informed and integrated into the newsroom’s daily stories and upcoming projects.

The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Prior experience in communications, news and/or the production world.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Is apprised of the daily news cycle.
  • Passionate about journalism and the news industry.
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Is flexible and can adjust their day depending on pressing priorities.
  • Enthusiastic about the global news and media world.
  • Creative thinker with a knack for brainstorming new angles and stories.
  • Positive attitude and dedication to team success through collaborating with a variety of internal teams and business leaders.
  • Self-driven professional with high attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.

Salary & Benefits:

  • $20 per hour (overtime when needed and approved)
  • PTO and paid holidays
  • Eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits on 91st day of employment
