Staff Geotechnical Engineer

RB&G Engineering, a Utah civil and geotechnical engineering firm, seeks applicants to join our staff as a staff geotechnical engineer. 

This is an entry-level / early-career position providing diverse geotechnical training and career development opportunities.  The staff engineer will be based in our office in Provo, Utah, working primarily along the Wasatch front. Some work will require travel to other parts of Utah and occasionally to neighboring states. This is a full-time position eligible for health insurance, paid holidays, vacation, personal/sick leave, and other competitiv benefits. 

Job duties will include completing field coordination work in advance of borings and other subsurface investigations, collecting and logging samples of soil and rock, monitoring geotechnical instrumentation, performing observation and inspection during construction, drafting reports, and conducting engineering analyses such as slope stability, seepage, settlement, foundation bearing capacity, and deep foundation design calculations. A significant portion of the work is expected to occur outdoors, in all seasons and weather conditions. 

The majority of our current projects are in the fields of transportation (roads, bridges, airports) and water resources (dams, canals, pipelines).

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • Plans to become licensed as a professional engineer after obtaining the required experience.
  • Current driver's license and clean driving record (no outstanding DUIs).
  • Integrity, punctuality, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and continue to work in a drug-free environment.
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs intermittently throughout the work day.
