MUST BE A CURRENT UNLV STUDENT THROUGH AT LEAST FALL 2024

The Rebel Events Board (REB) is a student-driven organization dedicated to creating, planning, and executing campus-wide events in order to encourage a vibrant campus culture at UNLV. REB provides opportunities for students to develop leadership and event-planning skills as well as a way for students to become more connected to the campus community. Some examples of REB’s events include UNLV Premier, Homecoming week, Rebels After Dark, and Open Mic Nights. Simply put, we are the most fun people on campus, organizing the best activities for UNLV. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend weekly REB Executive Team Meetings and weekly General Member Meetings. REB Executive Team meetings are Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm. REB meetings are every other Tuesday at 7:00 pm. Both meetings are  REQUIRED for the Executive Team
  • Attend weekly meetings with the advisor and/or graduate assistant
  • Serve ON DUTY during REB events
  • Attend the mandatory REB Executive Team retreats and General Member Retreats (2 in Spring, 2 in Fall)
  • Support fellow Executive Board members in implementing REB program
  • Be a positive representation of Rebel Pride to UNLV and the Las Vegas community
  • Work collaboratively with other organizations and university departments to implement the program
  • Create and facilitate committees under your position with general members
  • Work with advisor and committee to establish purpose, goals, and expectations for the committee
  • Will be responsible for the leadership of their respective committee as well as the coordination of their specific events
  • Work closely with an intern specifically assigned to their subcommittee
  • Expected to attend/work most REB events if schedule permits
  • The position runs from May 2024 through December 2024 (one semester)
  • Work with the Student Union and Event Services department to book event space and process contracts with local and national vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned by the advisor 
     

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week (20 Max)
  • Be in good standing with the University
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one semester of involvement with REB
  • A passion for community building, leadership, inclusion, and advocacy
  • Knowledge of Student Involvement & Activities and programs offered
  • Experience in event planning and program execution
  • Proficient with common computer programs and technology (e.g. Microsoft Office) 
  • Experience in customer service and administrative duties

 

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for working with the advisor and other directors in REB to design marketing materials and event collateral such as brochures, posters, social media graphics, and t-shirt designs. The Graphic Designer will have the opportunity to create and design the Annual UNLV Premier Shirt that is distributed to over 4,000 students. This student will have access to a budget where they can purchase and implement ideas to have their art reach the maximum number of students at UNLV.  They will have access to all applications in the Create Cloud at an in-office workstation. The Graphic Design Director will work closely with the Marketing Director, Advisor, and GA to ensure the idea follows the proper channels from concept, design and public. The Graphic Design Director is also expected to attend the REB Executive and General Members Meetings.

 

Our ideal Graphic Design Director:
 

  • Has a strong portfolio demonstrating an extensive background in flyer design and social media conceptualization.
  • Is an expert in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, with experience in coordinating file deliveries with print houses.
  • Has passion for their craft, is interested in bringing their ideas to the table, and wants to take ownership over the design.
  • Is an independently driven professional who explores creative concepts but still executes on deadline.
  • Is an effective collaborator who constructively provides and graciously receives feedback.
  • Is likely a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design and Media Major student (though designers with graphic design experience who are able to treat the position as if it were a top priority to them are welcome to apply).
  • Is likely in the Las Vegas area over the summer (though remote availability via phone or Skype fitting these criteria will be considered).
  • Bonus: Has illustration and/or photography capabilities.

Must be available to work 10-20 hours per week. Pay: $12.00 per hour
