Are you a accounting professional with a passion for wildlife conservation? Consider joining the Accounting Service Branch team as we support the programs carrying out the mission of the Department of Fish and Wildlife. CDFW is seeking an Accountant Trainee, in a learning capacity, will perform professional accounting duties related to the review, audit, and approval of Travel Expense claims and special projects related to Travel.

Headquartered in our new high-rise building located in downtown Sacramento, this position has the opportunity of being eligible for remote centered hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California.

The new Natural Resources Building is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.

This position is a 12 month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

 

If you currently have permanent status in your position and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position at the end of this LT appointment. If you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status, you will be separated from state service.

 

During this 12-month Limited Term assignment, you will receive full health, dental, and vision benefits! You will also earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits.

Working Conditions

Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Attend meetings and hearings; work with staff and/or vendors necessary to complete work assignments. Attend meetings and hearings. Occasional travel may be required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include an overnight stay.
