Under the general direction of the Branch Chief of Business Intelligence and Automation, a Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisor), the incumbent, a Transportation Engineer (Civil), serves as the Data Collection/Analysis Engineer in the Business Intelligence & Automation Branch.

The incumbent performs a wide variety of data processing tasks for transportation operation business needs. The incumbent performs a variety of engineering analysis, quality control and assurance, data mining, and data governance duties to support a diverse customer base (including the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Caltrans project delivery personnel).
