Media Relations Intern

Overview:

The Back-to-Back World Champion Las Vegas Aces are seeking the best and brightest students to join their internship program. The Aces tip off their 2024 season in May and are looking to maintain the highest level of experience for fans on and off the court. Our Media Relations internship program is designed for students who want to gain first-hand experience on the front lines of a professional sports team. Under the direction of the Vice President of Media Relations, the intern will assist in all aspects of the Aces game day media relations efforts.

Job Title: Media Relations Intern 

Reports To: Vice President of Media Relations

 

Duties and tasks:

  • Work all home games of the 2024 season, including the playoffs
  • Work select special events

Assist with …

  • Creating game notes prior to each game
  • Writing, distribution and posting of postgame stories 
  • Writing, distribution and posting of preview stories
  • Writing, distribution and posting of press releases 
  • Staffing credential desk at home games and select special events
  • Distributing information packets to visiting teams and national broadcasters
  • Setting up and overseeing of press room/press row 
  • Updating of team website
  • Facilitating interviews with media 
  • Attending media interviews, community events and other Aces' team events
  • Staffing credential desk at home games and select special events

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain a better understanding of all aspects of media relations at the professional sports level 

 

Intern Benefits:

  • Interns are expected to work all Las Vegas Aces home games during the duration of the internship
  • and other events as needed
  • Interns will need to be available to work early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays
  • Internship timeline—April to October

 

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in college, junior or senior preferred, sports management, marketing, communication or business administration major preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Proficiency in indesign, photoshop, illustrator and other adobe software a plus
  • Must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a detail-oriented and organized 
  • Must be self-confident, resilient and possess a high energy level and enthusiasm
  • Must be a team-player and able to work well with others
