Landscape Worker

Do you enjoy working outdoors? The City of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department is hiring temporary Landscape Workers to work April through October. Work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (weather permitting) with occasional weekends.

Typical Duties:

  • Perform landscape work in routine landscape installation, maintenance, and plant care for downtown and city parks, grounds, and medians.
  • Performs landscape maintenance, mulching, watering, and deadheading.
  • Planting of shrubs, perennials, and annuals based on planting designs.
  • Weed control and fertilizing, fall and spring clean ups, trimming and pruning, leaf raking and disposal, and lawn mowing.
  • Guide youth crews and community volunteers in landscaping activities. 
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

Essential Functions are the functions that the individual holding the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.  Position Requirements:

One year of experience in commercial or residential landscaping, greenhouse production, or commercial horticulture, or 20 credit hours in a certified landscape/horticultural training program.

Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out of state driver's license.

Must obtain a Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License, including categories A and E, and present to the hiring authority, within three months of appointment.

Temporary: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements. This position is eligible for Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST). Other benefits are not provided.
