HOPE 4 Youth is a nonprofit organization firmly rooted in the goal of ending youth homelessness.  Our mission is to provide pathways to end youth homelessness. Our vision is to ensure all youth feel safe, valued, and supported while reaching their full potential. This begins with meeting their basic needs and leads to giving them the tools to thrive. HOPE 4 Youth provides a safe place for youth to access basic needs support, educational and employment programs and opportunities, and transitional housing options. Wages & Benefits

$15.61 per hour; set schedule to plan out the week, set at least 2 weeks in advance; supportive environment to work with the youth of our community; path to long term employment possible. This position is not eligible for benefits except for participation in the agency-sponsored retirement savings plan and accrual of Minnesota Sick and Safe Leave.

 

Schedule

This is a part-time position supporting our transitional housing program for homeless young people at HOPE Place in Coon Rapids. This position will work every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings from 3:00pm – 11:00pm and intermittently as needed for vacations and callouts. This position will work 10 - 20 hours per week and requires flexibility in meeting the needs of the schedule.

 

A Typical Day in the Life…

A typical day as HOPE 4 Youth’s Front Desk Support provides an opportunity to offer support for the youth and staff at HOPE Place in Coon Rapids by greeting the youth, monitoring the front desk and other light office duties, and will include the following:

  • Assisting with answering phones and relaying messages.
  • Monitoring & responding to emails throughout each shift.
  • Supporting team members with light office duties.
  • Monitoring security cameras and following security protocols.
  • Responding to questions received by tenants and visitors; seeking guidance as needed.
  • Completing shift checklist and providing to Program Manager after every shift.
  • Facilitating and/or assisting with Community Events as needed.

  • You have experience and are able to work both independently and collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.
  • You have a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • You can draw on the ability to empathize, problem solve and accept people unconditionally, with an openness to new ideas.
  • When faced with situations where policies and procedures do not apply, you must determine the appropriate action based on experience and judgment in consultation with your supervisor.
  • You can understand and apply your knowledge of homelessness and social support systems, with the ability or experience to work with culturally and racially diverse populations.
