We are currently seeking an Accountant to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate demonstrates an ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced environment; is able to problem solve and follow through with assigned tasks; and exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality. Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills, along with a team outlook are essential. The successful candidate should enjoy challenges, be able to act and react as necessary, and is not afraid to take charge of a situation.

Candidates should have knowledge of general accounting principles and broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems. Experience in non-profit organizations is a plus, as is experience with MIP accounting software. Excellent written and oral communication skills and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software required.

Key Objectives of this Role:      

  • Prepare billing for various contracts including but not limited to city, county, and state offices
  • Assist with monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements and review journal entries in a timely and correct fashion
  • Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit processes
  • Organize and maintain a variety of detailed financial records, both manually and through automated methods.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Hybrid "work from home and office" model is available upon completion of onboarding and skill mastery necessary to work remotely.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in accounting, business management, or similar field plus 2 years of professional-level experience in accounting and/or finance with computer applications required.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, prior use of other account software preferred
  • Ability to obtain preemployment Act 33/34 clearances (criminal and child abuse) as well as FBI clearance
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and in groups
  • MIP and MPER experience a plus
