Fire Protection Associate

ACS (Advanced Consulting Solutions) Group is a Fire Protection Engineering and Life Safety consulting firm with offices located in Las Vegas, NV, Boston, MA, and Austin, TX. Our service locations are constantly growing with the bulk of our work occurring in Nevada, California, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Massachusetts. What to Expect:

A Fire Protection Associate will closely collaborate with senior staff members as an integral member of the team. Personal professional growth is equally important as technical input in this role. Roles and responsibilities to include:

  • Preparation of Fire Protection Reports for various projects. The reports will contain the strategic fire protection approach for the project. This report will be based on the applicable code requirements and will describe methods proposed to meet these requirements.
  • Conduct architectural drawing reviews to identify critical egress issues along with the preparation of master egress drawings for various projects. These drawings will include evaluating occupant loads, exit capacities, exit routes, exit and stair widths, travel distances, common path of travel, dead-end conditions, fire resistance ratings for corridors, stairs and exit enclosures.
  • Build fire, smoke, and/or egress models for various projects. The modeling software that will be utilized are CONTAM, Pathfinder, and FDS
  • Develop criteria and/or review design drawings and specifications of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems for project bidding.
  • The candidate will assist senior staff in review, design, and final testing and inspections of building smoke control systems.
  • Classify and quantify hazardous materials in accordance with the International Fire Code, NFPA standards, and FM Global Datasheets based on information provided by the client. Produce chemical hazardous analysis report based on findings.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and/or Civil engineering. EIT Certification preferred. We will also consider candidates that have significant industry experience in fire protection, life safety, or code consulting but are not on the engineering track.
  • 1-5 years of professional experience.
  • Must be proficent with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience using Revit, AutoCAD and BlueBeam.
  • Ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities. Strong communication and coordination capabilities is EVERYTHING.
