Job Description

NBCU Local Philadelphia, consisting of NBC10, Telemundo62, and NBC Sports Philadelphia, is seeking a talented student for a spring-summer co-op experience. This student will be working directly with the Community and Public Relations team. This is a six-month program that may extend to a year.

 

Activities/Projects will include one or more of the following:

1. Manage community appearance requests; serve as liaison with community organizations

2. Monitor and save all news clippings of earned media coverage and compile year-end reports

3. Manage station promotional inventory

4. Write, edit, translate and post articles on Community web pages for WCAU And WWSI; Draft, post and edit on-air talent bios for station websites

5. Staff event activations. Support event setup, breakdown and communications.

6. Develop and update media lists for local, regional and trade press and distribute press releases

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree that has a cooperative learning track
  • Strong interest in the telecommunications, media, and Public Relations industries
  • Preferred Majors: Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Community Affairs, or related field
  • Candidates must be in good academic standing with their college or university
  • Must be a self-starter and independent worker, able to work in a fast-paced corporate environment, able to multi-task and manage priorities as needed, able to write well and think creatively
  • Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Candidates must demonstrate an ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing project and business needs
  • Candidates must be able to work well independently within a team environment and manage multiple projects
  • Physical ability to handle weight of approximately twenty-five pounds
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship or assistance from the company
  • Available to work 30 to 40 hours per week for six months
  • Students will work in a hybrid model, working on-site and remotely.
  • Bilingual with strong oral and written communications skills in English and Spanish preferred
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams
