Safety Intern

Our projects are regulated by federal and state laws which require all employees to successfully pass criminal background checks, MVR, and drug tests (post-employment and random testing).  

About the Job

Safety Interns will work closely with Field Safety Representatives and Safety personnel to assist with the safety of construction projects or in the office to assist in the day-to-day activities associated with safety and loss control.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists with safety and equipment audits, as well as yard inspections, to identify/correct, potential hazards and ensure safety regulation compliance. Includes company equipment, vehicles, facilities, job sites, and safety equipment
  • Assists with documentation of all safety violations or unsafe conditions/activities
  • Assists in job site accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injury investigations to determine probable causes and make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Participate in incident investigation
  • Assists with environmental, health and safety compliance audits

Job Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Occupational Health and Safety Major or equivalent
  • Strong Desire to Learn
  • Collaborative and Team Player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time to meet deadlines

Working Environment/Physical Demands

  • Exerting up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.
  • Work involves walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree
  • Work is performed in an office or construction site
