Purchasing/Buyer - Summer Internship

Z-Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, is a Purchasing / Buyer Intern for our facility located in Killeen. TX. Reporting to the local Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Intern will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced purchasing environment and will support the Purchasing team through providing detailed product forecast(s) to support 100% product availability, analyze inventory turns to reduce inventory days on hand, and assist in executing competitive bids and down-selecting to award purchases.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shadow Purchasing Team to gain understanding of what it means to be a buyer in a fast-paced manufacturing organization
- Learn the end-to-end process for purchasing materials, negotiating with vendors, and problem solve shortages that impact the line
- Perform analysis of spend to help find material cost savings
- Perform demand analysis to determine forecast(s) for material buys to support 100% product availability over next 1 year
- Create purchase requisitions from Supplier submitted quotes
- Create and release purchase orders to vendors for construction materials
- Gain experience working with the Dynamics 365 as it relates to Procurement
- Communicate with vendors / suppliers regarding order confirmations, delivery dates, etc.
- Reconcile invoices with Accounting and Vendors
- Upload / Scan purchasing documents into IMS for Accounting Purposes
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred candidate will be pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong, effective communication skills
- Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
- Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
