Marcum LLP is seeking an Assurance Services Staff to join our growing and well established national firm in Melville, NY.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

Work on a variety of client engagements in various industries

Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, compliance errors and irregularities, fraud, or noncompliance with laws and regulations

Prepare detailed audit reports in accordance with relevant standards

Inspect eligibility, procurement, and reporting records and compliance systems for efficiency and effectiveness

Communicate effectively with fellow staff and engagement supervisors/manager to ensure accurate recording of transactions and compliance with laws and regulations

Examine and evaluate compliance systems

Assist in the audit field work of business transaction processes including cash, fixed assets, inventories, and expenses

Develop an understanding of the client’s business and the specific accounting guidance that is applicable to your client and their respective industry

Accept and respond to engagement feedback

Working beyond standard job hours is expected during busy season

 

Qualifications:

BA/BS/MS in Accounting or similar field; high school degree required

Eligible to sit for the CPA exam

Ability to learn quickly and apply learned concepts to new situations

Ability to travel to clients if needed

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Effective time management, organizational, and analytical abilities

Flexibility and openness to work on a variety of assignments

Ability to balance multiple projects at once

Work well under pressure and with a team; ability to meet deadlines with accuracy

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment; Marcum LLP will not provide sponsorship for this position
