Ordnance Manufacturing Engineer

SAIC is seeking an Ordnance Manufacturing Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN. This position will interact directly with Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) technical codes/customers to support the development and design of ordnance component parts and manufacturing.

 

This role is an engineering function in developing technical models and documentation to support CAAA operations to include:

 

  •  Performing a variety of engineering duties in support of CAAA including the preparation of technical documentation to support the most efficient method of operations. Duties include creating digital drawings using SolidWorks of   ordnance components, assemblies, manufacturing lines to include process equipment, and facility floor plans.
  •  Creating formal detail drawings including fully dimensioned parts and assemblies (including all relevant information to be used for fabrication).
  •  Disassembling parts of assemblies to create digital models and drawings.
  •  Providing ordnance manufacturing process equipment concepts and designs, fixture concepts and designs, and manufacturing floor plans.
  •  All information needed to execute and/or contract the project, including bill of materials, and other details.
  •  Updating existing drawings and programs through troubleshooting of equipment to increase safety, integrity, and efficiency of equipment and systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering with two years' or more experience.
  • Must be proficient at using SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2-D (and 3-D preferred, but can learn) drawing tools.
  • Must be proficient at using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work in a busy, fast moving environment, and stay on task.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience with Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Familiarity with DoD ordnance manufacturing methods, techniques, and processes.
  • Ordnance process equipment design.
  • Ordnance manufacturing facilities design.
  • General knowledge of materials – strength, welding principles, sheet metal capabilities, wear, etc.
  • General knowledge of clearances for mating parts in manufacturing applications.

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. Able to start once Interim Secret clearance  is granted.
