Substitute Administrative Assistant (Short-Term and Long-Term Assignments)

OCDE is currently seeking skilled and motivated individuals who are interested in working on an on-call basis as Substitute Administrative Assistants for long-term assignments. These short-term and long-term assignments typically consist of a 7 to 8 hour workday, Monday through Friday, with standard hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Part-time shifts may also be available but are less frequent. 

The selected substitutes will be responsible for performing administrative support duties for assigned division staff and providing excellent customer service to employees, school site staff, community members, and others. 

Apart from seeking Substitute Administrative Assistants for assignments taking place at our central office in Costa Mesa, we're also looking to recruit substitutes who can offer support to our Alternative Education S1S program from April through August. This position will be located at our office site in Anaheim, CA.

The person selected will:

  • Perform data entry and access, process, retrieve, review, update, and maintain assigned database records.
  • Generate notices, forms, reports, lists, rosters, itineraries, training manuals, and another document.
  • Develop and maintain standard spreadsheets for a variety of purposes.
  • Utilize great communication skills by communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Exercise adaptability and flexibility with work type and volume.
  • Utilize organizational skills to set priorities and exercise sound judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with OCDE management, administrators, staff, students, parents and the public.


COMPENSATION:

  • $22.50 per hour.
  • Shift requirements are typical business hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Paid sick time can be accrued based on the number of hours worked.
  • Retirement Plans are available based on eligibility: Public Agency Retirement System (PARS) or Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Two years of administrative/office experience.
