Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - $8,000 Sign-On Bonus*

*$8,000 sign-on bonus for applicants who have zero seniority at CMH and who meet all other conditions for payment**

**To receive sign-on bonus, applicant must sign an offer letter by March 31, 2024, and begin working within three weeks of that acceptance. Full details of payment conditions can be obtained from Human Resources.

ELIGIBLE FOR CMH EMPLOYEE REFERRAL BONUS: PRIORITY RECRUITMENT

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Lab Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of laboratory tests in accordance with hospital policies and procedures; provides for operation, care, and maintenance of scientific equipment; collects specimens from patients ranging in age from neonate to geriatric, and is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of such duties and procedures.

Job Requirements                         
Knowledge of /Skill/Ability to:  Expected to maintain full confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.  Strong written, oral and organization skills required.  Attention to detail is required.  Experience with blood collection technique on all age groups.  Must be able to perform high complex testing.  Must have working knowledge of pre-analytical, analytical, as well as post analytical testing variables and how to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance thus working toward achieving the highest standard for clinical laboratory testing.  Computer skills, excellent customer service, and being an ongoing liaison between clients and providers.  Knowledge in laboratory compliance and Medical Necessity.  Must be able to multitask under stressful situations.  Under the supervision of the Medical Technologist, must be able to address questions from clients and providers.
 
License/Certification: If MLT (ASCP) or equivalent registration, or MLT eligible under Medicare laboratory; regulations. BLS certification required through American Heart Association.  Must provide a copy of High School Diploma or equivalent. If MT (ASCP) or equivalent registration, or MT eligible under Medicare laboratory; regulations. BLS certification required through American Heart Association.  Must provide a copy of High School Diploma or equivalent
 
Education and/or Experience:  Associate Degree/Bachelor Degree in appropriate field.  No previous experience is required in addition to clinical training, however at least 1-year experience is desired. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance                        
Standing and/or walking about most of the shift; lifts, carries, pushes, pulls, etc. light weight (under 50 lbs) equipment, materials and supplies for less than half the shift; may occasionally work in a strained or difficult position.  There is some exposure to hazards that might cause relatively serious injury or illness if proper safety precautions are not taken in dealing with patient specimens, acids, and diseased tissue.
