Laboratory Technician

Temp-To-Hire 

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

In a safe, legal and ethical manner, the Laboratory Technician performs duties to support analytical testing for our customer and its clients.  The Laboratory Technician maintains associated records, thus supporting the goal of providing a service to our clients that is accurate, timely and cost effective. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Receives, examines and record through a login process, inbound samples for testing.
  • Delivers test samples to the staging area.
  • Monitors the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and makes any needs for such supplies known to the Laboratory Manager.
  • After showing and documenting proficiency for the task, performs testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology. Reviews results against specifications and known expectations.  May be delegated to issue analysis to clients.
  • Prepares samples and quality control specimens.  Prepares and standardizes reagents and solutions. Calibrations equipment needed for the testing processes.
  • Verifies and communicates results obtained and makes appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets and any other media whether print or electronic ensuring the validity and traceability of the information.
  • Maintains documentation, equipment and work areas in a neat, orderly and safe condition.
  • With enough proficiency shown and documented, is able to assist in the training of less experienced employees.
  • Carries out all the above responsibilities in a supportive manner with adherence to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures.  Adherence to all Company policies.

ESSENTIAL RQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience helpful.
  • Two years’ experience in a laboratory environment helpful.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Model at all times within the work place, practicing business the right way
  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
  • Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to handle chemical and petroleum products.
  • Proficiency in online applications.
  • Ability to work all shifts and weekends.
  • Ability to perform analytical tasks and communicate results.
