About the Indirect Procurement Specialist role:
In this role, you will have a critical support role in our Advanced Thermal Systems team, as we work closely with our customers to define the future of commercial electric vehicles. 

You will assist the Engineering team with the different parts of the indirect procurement process including tracking sample builds and scheduling needed material, procuring engineering material, sourcing new suppliers, and managing contracts for engineering software and services.  You will also assist the Commercial team by managing the marketing services procurement process. 

This role will be based out of our in Racine, WI plant, and will report to the Procurement Manager – North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the purchasing process for indirect materials to support the Advanced Thermal Systems Organization.
    • Maintain an intake process to track requests and provide timely updates, ensuring commitments are made on time
    • Onboard new suppliers following company procedures
  • Maintain list of vendor contacts for sourcing/researching new components
  • Assist with sourcing hard-to-find part numbers
  • Assist engineering team with scheduling their sample builds, and sourcing and obtaining parts to support the builds.
  • Manage inventory, certification and shipping procedures for the organization.
    • Manage inventory of consumable parts and supplies at the Racine headquarters. This includes wire, connectors, electronic components, fasteners, etc. 
    • Coordinate shipment and receipt of parts to/from customers and suppliers.
    • Obtain ACCA certification for purchasing refrigerant.
  • Place orders and track delivery status through multiple purchasing methods:  credit card, inter-company transfer, materials requisitions, sundry payments
  • Negotiate price and terms with suppliers when needed
  • Troubleshoot as needed to resolve issues with orders and shipments
  • Resolve invoice issues with suppliers and A/P department
  • Adhere to company purchasing and accounting policies and procedures at all times
  • Support execution of sourcing processes. 
  • Assist procurement team with developing and implementing cost reduction and sourcing strategies to meet program timing, cost, quality, delivery, and strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate Request For Information (RFI)’s and Request For Quote (RFQ)’s for new programs and other sourcing initiatives.
  • Manage price updates in SAP and PPV tracker.
  • Support escalations as needed with suppliers.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization including written, verbal, and presentation techniques.
  • Cross-train with Direct Procurement Specialist to perform tasks while they are out of office including Request For Quote (RFQ) generation and management in procurement software. 
  • Maintain master tracking schedule of sample build projects, working with engineering to consolidate across the team, as needed.       
  • Create and coordinate detailed material procurement schedules to meet project requirements.
  • Monitor in-process work orders to ensure meeting schedule. Keep informed of manufacturing status and, when needed, initiate the necessary steps to meet commitments, as needed.
  • Track incoming material to ensure on schedule and follow up with suppliers in a timely manner to hold the schedule. 
  • Work on additional assigned tasks and completes special projects as needed.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in material procurement.
  • Work independently with timely response and attention to detail.
  • Responds quickly to changing office needs.
  • Working knowledge of MRP and supply chain processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical ability and complex problem solving skills.
  • Self-starter with initiative; ability to function with minimal supervision.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work within team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (pivot tables, vlookups)

 

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree a plus
