Airport Safety Officer II

Are you a skilled professional looking to take the next step in your career? Contra Costa County Public Works Airports Division is seeking Airport Safety Officer II candidates to join our dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Airport Safety Officer II, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our county-owned airports. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of operations, safety duties, maintenance, and aviation security activities. You will be prepared to handle aircraft crash rescue and fire suppression, as well as emergency response duties. Your role will be vital in maintaining the security and safety of our airports.

Requirements:

  • License: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License (out-of-state licenses accepted during the application process).
  • Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
  • Experience: One (1) year of full-time airport maintenance and/or operations experience at a civilian, military airport, or on an aircraft carrier; or one (1) year of full-time experience as a Firefighter.
  • Substitution: A bachelor’s degree in Aviation, or a related field may be substituted for the required one year of experience. 

 

Special Requirements: Provided by the department within the first year of employment and annually thereafter. 

Physical Requirements: Possession of annual physical examination and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) fit test. 

ARFF Training: Required to complete annual Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) training. 

Certifications: Possession of First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Certifications.
