About the Position:

The Director of Grant Development & Administration is responsible for overseeing Polk State College's grant application, management, and reporting systems including: identifying institutional needs; strategically identifying appropriate funding sources; managing proposal development; coordinating grant development teams; providing training for proposal development; providing technical assistance to project developers; conducting grant-related research; and overseeing grant-related management, reporting and recording keeping to ensure compliance with terms of grant awards as well as state and federal law.

Essential Functions/Duties

• Develop and maintain grant development process that ensures institutional needs are addressed according to priorities established in Polk State College's strategic goals and objectives.
• Develop and oversee grant administration process, including a central record keeping system for grant applications, awards, reports, and supporting documents, ensuring institutional compliance with state and federal laws, funding agency and Polk State College regulations, and conditions set forth in grant award contracts.
• Oversee and support the Grant Writer and Grant Manager including monitoring grant program activity, reporting, and correspondence.
• Strategically identify and research potential sources of federal, state, local and private foundation, and corporate grant funding.
• Actively solicit funding sources on a state, national, and local level for identified College grant areas.
• Develop working relationships with corporate, government and foundation granting agencies as well as local and regional government and business partners, community-based organizations.
• Oversee grant application process including coordinating grant development teams for each proposal; conceptualizing and writing proposals; developing grant proposal budgets in coordination with the appropriate budget head and the Polk State College business office; reviewing and editing proposals prior to submission; and ensuring that proposals are submitted on time and in an appropriate format to funding entity.
• Submit monthly reports to the Vice President, Institutional Effectiveness, Accreditation, & Research that includes grant proposals submitted, award notifications, and other grant related activities.
• Create and conduct proposal development training for interested faculty and staff.
• Participate in local, state, regional and national workshops, conferences, and
• meetings to stay current in funding trends and potential funding sources.

This position is a P16 level. Polk State uses years of experience and internal equity factors to determine pay rates. Please see below for pay range.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of effective grant research, grant writing, and external funding sources.
• Knowledge of effective project management techniques.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Demonstrated understanding of educational institutions and policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:

• Work outside of a 40-hour work week may be required to complete major tasks.
• Must have the ability to work proficiently in busy, multi-office work area. This is an on-campus position (not remote or hybrid).
• Attendance at workshops and seminars will be required as part of the position.

Required Education

Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Education or related field.

Required Experience:

• Five years grant administration, including the associated business and accounting processes, grant writing, and grant research required with a proven track record in securing grants, preferably in an education setting.
• Experience with federal or state grants required.
• Knowledge of the Florida state college system preferred.
