This position is in Office of Mission Support.  

The location will be determined after a selection has been made for the position; if selected, you must work at one of the locations stated in this announcement. The salary will be commensurate with the location.

At the entry level of this position, you will:

  • Administer health, safety and environmental programs designed to protect EPA employees from potential exposures/effects from health hazards.
  • Investigate reported environmental hazards and potential exposures in EPA facilities, field or deployed locations (e.g., lead, asbestos, PCBs etc.) and provide mitigation/prevention guidance working with health and safety, facilities and interagency POCs (e.g., GSA)
  • Participate in inspections of EPA facilities where needed to assess environmental health hazards and assist in developing appropriate controls.
  • Coordinate with EPA health and safety professionals to comply with CDC and other environmental health requirements.
  • Develop communication plans and educational resources for EPA locations. Supports development and provides consultation to EPA’s health and safety community in development or revisions to policies, manuals, guidelines and programs related to environmental health hazards and exposures (laboratory, field…etc.).
  • Develop guidance and procedures for evaluating indoor air quality concerns related to water intrusion and stagnation, mold, outdoor environmental contaminants, and HVAC deficiencies. 
  • Evaluate agency policies and procedures for ensuring drinking water quality in EPA facilities in accordance with appropriate federal, state and local drinking water and public health regulations.
  • Review designs and guidelines for food preparation, storage or serving facilities; checks plans for proper type, placement and installation of equipment and utilities, appropriate use of materials, and other areas as required by health codes and standards.
