WHAT YOU'LL DO
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, develop, organize, and implement career and transfer related workshops and other services as assigned to the Career Development, Placement and/or Transfer Center.

The current vacancy is a bilingual full-time position (12 months/year, 40 hours/week) located at Oxnard College.

Oxnard College was founded in 1975 and is the newest of the three community colleges in the county. Set on 118 acres and located two miles from Pacific Ocean beaches, the college is easily accessible by the Ventura Freeway (Highway 101) or the Pacific Coast Highway.

This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year.

Representative Duties
Provide information and assistance to students related to transfer procedures and requirements; assist students with completing paper and online admission applications and transfer forms. E

Provide information and assistance to students related to career development and job placement; administer, score, and interpret various career guidance tests and inventories. E

Assist students with completing a variety of paper and online employment-related applications and forms; participate in job recruitment activities; maintain job boards of available positions including paid internships. E

Maintain regular communication with various employers, community organizations, and educational agencies in the area to establish or maintain jobs and paid internships for students. E

Participate in new student orientation, transfer orientations and other student support activities to provide information about career, transfer, and skill building. E

Coordinate and participate in Faculty and Counselor professional development activities focused on providing information on embedding career and transfer into student professional growth classes and guided pathways. E

Plan and coordinate special events, tours, and professional visitations; develop policies and procedures for special events, including job fairs and employer site visits. E

Create, coordinate, and deliver in-person, online, onsite, and off-site workshops and presentations related to student transfer, career, job skills, and job placement for faculty, staff, students, administrators, college, university, and high school partners. E

Design, prepare, disseminate, and coordinate the production of announcements, brochures, flyers, forms, social media posts, and other promotional materials regarding the services of the Center in collaboration with the Marketing department; establish and maintain program website and social media accounts. E

Serve as a liaison between the Center and community agencies, high schools, and other organizations in the areas of career and transfer activities. E

Research, purchase, and maintain a library of resource materials for the Center, including career guidance and job placement materials, college and university catalogues, and transfer materials. E

Participate in the evaluation of the Center's programs and activities including compiling, organizing, and summarizing data for various reports. E

Attend meetings, conferences, and trainings as required.

Train and provide work direction to student workers as assigned.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree, from a recognized college or university, in psychology, counseling, education, social work, social services, career counseling or related field.

OR
A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university AND one year of experience providing career and student support services.

Supplemental Information
EXAMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:This is an examination open to the public and current district employees seeking a promotional opportunity. To ensure consideration, please submit your application materials by 11:59 pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. The examination process may consist of any of the following components:
A) Evaluation of Training and Experience (T&E) = Qualifying (pass/fail) B) Technical Interview = 100% weighting on final score

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (T&E) EVALUATION:

A T&E is an assessment by subject matter experts of training and experience, beyond the minimum requirements, that has prepared the candidate for the position as evidenced in the application materials. When completing the application and the supplemental questionnaire (if applicable), outline in detail your education, training (such as classes, seminars, workshops), and experience. Please be sure to answer every component of each supplemental question as your responses will be scored and serve as your score on the training and experience (T&E) evaluation.

The eight (8) candidates with the highest passing scores on the T&E will be invited to the technical interview.

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW DATE RANGE AND LOCATION: Date Range: Wednesday, October 12, 2022 - Wednesday, October 19, 2022

Location: The Technical Interview will be conducted remotely, using Zoom. In order to participate in the internet, you must have access to a computer with a camera, microphone, speakers, and a reliable connection to the internet.

The examination components and dates are subject to change as needs dictate. The candidates will be ranked according to their total score on the eligibility list. Certification will be made from the highest three ranks of the eligibility list. This eligibility list will be used to fill current vacancies for up to one year from the date of the technical interview.PROBATIONARY PERIOD: All appointments made from eligibility lists for initial appointment or for promotion, with certain exceptions, shall be probationary for a period of six (6) months or one hundred thirty (130) days of paid service, whichever is longer.
