Project Material Expeditor Senior - Hybrid

This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employees position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office.  This position will report to Duluth, MN.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Construction Teams to ensure that project materials arrive at the site as required to support the Project Schedule. 
  • Arrange for the receiving, unloading, and storage of materials.
  • Review project material requirements and schedules with Engineering and Project Management to determine material order quantities and perform lead time analysis. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain good working relationships.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

***Applicable military service/experience may be considered as an equivalency to satisfy the education and/or experience requirement***

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or a related field PLUS six years or more of progressive related experience including but not limited to, Procurement, preferably in an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) environment.
OR
  • High School diploma PLUS 10 years or more of progressive related experience including but not limited to, Procurement, preferably in an EPC environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as field work and travel may be necessary
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to collaborate with diverse groups and the ability to organize and analyze large amounts of material data
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and P6.
  • MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, conditional formatting, etc.)
  • Familiar with purchasing system, tracking received material, inventory control, and distribution and ability to interpret technical documents such as bill of materials, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Knowledge of LEAN operations principles
  • Must possess a solid understanding of technical specifications of material and equipment.
  • Exceptional communication, coordination, organization, and administrative skills to effectively communicate key takeaways to management and other functions.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
