Entry Level Fleet Support Mechanical Engineer

The Fleet Reactor Engineering department is seeking entry level mechanical engineers to fill several different roles within the organization. Possible opportunities include:
  1. Structural design and analysis of reactor core components for submarines. (Niskayuna, NY)
  2. Manufacturing support and certification of reactor core components for submarines. (Niskayuna, NY)
  3. Thermal and performance analysis of nuclear reactors for submarines (Niskayuna, NY or West Mifflin, PA)
  4. Thermal and performance analysis of nuclear reactors for aircraft carriers. (West Mifflin, PA)
  5. Thermal analysis of spent nuclear fuel. (Niskayuna, NY)
  6. Code development/design to support thermal analysis of nuclear reactors. (Niskayuna, NY)

Engineers in these positions would be expected to perform engineering evaluations and analyses, and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks. Cognizant areas may include planning, designing, modeling, analyzing, and documentation of mechanical, structural, performance, or thermal evaluations of reactor components and systems. Work may include design reviews, operations support, safety analysis, engineering methods and software development.

Required Skills *

Associate:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university required.
 
Intermediate:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience; or
  • Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
  • SRE Qualification
