The role:
 
Come join our team as a highway maintenance coordinator! In this position, you will assist with maintaining or repairing surfaces, structures and facilities. You will work closely with the transportation maintenance manager to coordinate and oversee the work of the maintenance crew which includes planning and assigning work, establishing work priorities and procedures and monitoring employee performance.

A day in the life:

  • Maintain knowledge of and perform maintenance activities.
  • Plan, prioritize, schedule and assign maintenance work activities.
  • Assist the transportation maintenance manager with short and long range planning and budget preparation.
  • Review work done by the crew and provide input to the transportation maintenance manager on employee performance.
  • Patrol highways and structures looking for potential accidents, hazards and damages. 
  • Review and evaluate structural damages from accidents.
  • Provide new employee orientation and train employees in the operation of a wide variety of heavy and light equipment.
  • Communicate with the manager and district office regarding needs, problems and crew activities, conduct research and make recommendations.
  • Coordinate activities with other crews, agencies, private contractors and news media to ensure the safety of the public and crews.
  • Monitor and inspect permit activities on the highway for compliance to permit specifications which includes road approach, miscellaneous and Adopt-A-Highway permits.
  • May be required to work around construction equipment, near heavy traffic, walk on rough terrain, climb ladders, work with hazardous materials and lift up to 90 pounds.
  • May need to work long hours, travel overnight and be available after hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency, on call and weather related purposes.

What we need:
Three years of maintenance and/or construction experience in roadway/highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge or landscape.

Special qualifications:
Employee will be required to use a commercial motor vehicle to conduct business; you must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with a tanker endorsement, and no air brake restrictions to be considered eligible for this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.

This position requires a maximum 30 minute response time to 406 E Frazer, Condon, OR 97823 for emergency call-outs.
