Intern - Budget

POSITION SUMMARY
Under general to limited supervision, an intern for the Budget Division assists the Office of Management and Budget (“OMB”) in achieving departmental goals and objectives by working to complete assigned tasks and projects in one or more of the following areas:
  • Capital
  • Community Development
  • Operating and Special Revenue
Intern will have the opportunity to learn about public administration and the workings of City government. Skills may include but are not limited to: budgeting, researching and developing policy, analyzing data and developing reports, documenting procedures, and maintaining databases.
Student applicants should note if a program has a requirement for a number of hours per week. OMB may be able to accommodate if the budget allows. 
Some tasks may be done remotely at the discretion of the appropriate Assistant Director.

Salary:  $15.00-$20.00 per hour

QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS:
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE: None required for this position. 
  • EDUCATION/TRAINING: Must be currently enrolled and taking classes in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate program; OR have graduated within the last twelve (12) months.
  • EQUIVALENCY: None permitted for this position.

POSITION DUTIES
  • Contributes to departmental goals by completing assigned tasks and projects within set timelines.
  • Analyzes statistical data, compile research, and develop reports.
  • Attends internal and external meetings.
  • Assists with the review of invoices, contracts, and accounting records.
  • Provides general administrative support concurrently with assigned projects.
