Curriculum Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: The Curriculum Coordinator’s primary focus is improving student achievement through building teacher capacity and the understanding of high quality instructional strategies. This individual is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers. The individual must demonstrate and model a passion for urban education reform and leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures the implementation of the online platform with fidelity using various pedagogical strategies
  • Coaches teachers on best practices to ensure that an optimal learning environment exists for teaching and learning
  • Provides direction and coordination to teachers on District initiatives and best practices
  • Supports teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels
  • Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, and the retrieval of information to support classroom instruction and planning
  • Builds strong positive relationships with teachers, administrators and other staff
  • Provide technical support to collaborative teams within the building
  • Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, development of differentiated lessons and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of students
  • Develops teaching staff knowledge, skills and behaviors through a variety professional development targeted topics and designs
  • Submits a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests and documentation
  • Coordinates and oversees all local, state and federal assessments
  • Collaborates with Principal on teacher evaluations
  • Provides ongoing feedback to Principal regarding teaching and learning in each classroom
  • Facilitates monthly PLC’s (Professional Learning Communities) with instructional staff
  • Assists Foundational Skills Instructor and paraprofessional with MTSS (Multi-Tiered System Support) and academic intervention strategies
  • Participates in all data meetings related to school
  • Creates a monthly Board Report on instruction and curriculum. Attends monthly Board Meetings
  • Willingness to complete additional tasks as assigned by Principal     

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include supervision for a staff of 8 employees.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possesses a Michigan Teaching Certification, preferably in Math or ELA
  • Preferred Masters in Education
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest need
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effective with colleagues which includes the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills that includes giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Proven ability in using student-level data to guide decision making
  • Demonstrates teacher leadership
  • Possesses a strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise
  • Demonstrates an expertise in oral and written communication
  • Strong positive interpersonal skills
  • Models continuous improvement, lifelong learner and applies new learning strategies to help all students achieve
  • Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in various professional development activities
  • Efficient computer skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis and all data management systems including FileMaker, PowerSchool and Apex Learning  
  • Must possess and provide a valid Michigan Driver's License. Incumbent must also have reliable transportation

  • Improve student and teacher performance in targeted areas that enhance outcomes that include course completions, certifications and graduation rate
  • Increase Professional Learning opportunities and participation for staff
  • Improve teaching, learning and classroom management 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. - This job operates in a normal school environment with a noise level, which is at times, moderately loud with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
