Position: Assistant Planner/Plat Processor

Job Location: Meridian, ID

Position Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who has experience in Land Planning and Land Development entitlement processes. In this position, you will work in a team environment to help with a broad range of planning, engineering, and survey team needs. Exceptional organization and communication with project managers, staff, and engineers is vital. Positive and professional interaction with clients, project stakeholders, local, state, and federal agencies is expected.
 
While working with the J-U-B’s multi-disciplinary Land Development project team, and as directed by the Project Managers, typical tasks and assignments may include:
  • Develop a collaborative and trusted working relationship with PMs, staff, clients, subject experts and reviewing agencies (i.e., city, power, irrigation, street, County, State, Federal etc.)
  • Provide timely and accurate project research and evaluation (property info, ownership, entitlement, agency requirements, etc.)
  • Provide assistance with document tracking, project applications, agency plan submittals, and entitlement approvals by local agencies (i.e., land use/engineering, conditions of approval, etc.)
  •  Coordinate and efficiently track all agency submittals, plan reviews, routing statuses, key dates, and other information.
  • Efficiently track and process subdivision plats and plans to obtain agency signatures and record plats
  • Work as a trusted liaison between client and agency
  • Participate in neighborhood meetings and public processes as directed by the Project Managers.
  • Track agency comments and professional land surveyor revisions
  • Assist with community and land use planning
  • Draft and document various communications, transmittal records, notifications, public information, technical reports, etc.
  • Collaborate and work efficiently as a team with project managers, planners, engineers, and other subject matter experts
 
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or related field*, or
  • 2-3+ years of qualifying experience in either architectural/engineering project coordination*, or
  • 2-4+ years of qualifying experience in construction administration/coordination*, or
  •  2-5+ years of qualifying experience in title company work, planning or a similar profession*
  • Local government and/or public involvement experience is a benefit
  • Master planning / long-range planning experience is a plus
  • Strong self-motivation, team focus, and ability to push tasks to completion
  • Strong written/speaking communication, computer, and organizational skills--including technical writing
  *Demonstrated experience and skills required
