Mechanical Integrity Engineer

Position Summary: Mechanical Integrity Engineer - HSIO
Location: Nashua, NH

AICC, a division of Amphenol, is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEM’s globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally.

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Integrity Engineer to join our Product Development team. The position will be located in Nashua, NH.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Mechanical Integrity Engineer you will provide the lead in supporting the development of new products through testing and analysis of data and designs.
  •  Support the development of new products and processes via mechanical testing and qualification of electrical and opto-electronic cable assemblies and components.
  •  Develop test sequences and procedures to determine the long-term reliability of electrical and opto-electronic cable assemblies that factor in customer use and application requirements.
  •  Process and analyze testing results, and create reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
  •  Support the product design effort in mechanical analysis such as tolerance analysis, FEA, materials analysis, failure analysis and creating test plans.
  •  Prepare test samples and test requests. Design and fabricate test fixtures. Interface with test lab technicians.
  •  Collaborate with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes thru pilot production, as well as interfacing with beta-site customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MS/PhD Mechanical Engineering with 5 – 10 years experience
  • Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and/or SolidWorks
  • Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Minitab would be a plus
  • Experience developing test plans for mechanical and environmental stresses of I/O cables, ESD testing would be a plus
  • Experience specifying testing protocol in automotive or consumer industries would be a plus
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools desirable, ANSYS experience would be a plus
  • Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical people
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Desire to create and design new products and processes
  • Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus
  • Basic understanding of electrical connectors
