Job Summary:
The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is seeking a Research Unit Manager to work within the Continuous Improvement Bureau with direction from the Bureau Administrator. This position will be responsible for supervising the policy, research and planning analysts of the Bureau and perform work of considerable difficulty in supervising the activities of staff engaged in policy analysis, writing, planning, evaluation and research projects that support the planning, modification, coordination, and achievements of agency goals. Typical duties include setting study and project standards, allocating staff and resources, reviewing project plans and progress, providing technical and supervisory guidance, assessing and ensuring staff training needs are met, reviewing work and documentation for quality and soundness of conclusions and recommendations, working with management and project members to develop work strategies and identify options and solutions.

Job Duties:
Manage, research and policy project planning, development, review, approval, implementation, evaluation and revisions
 
Organize, assign/delete and review team work
 
Supervise, train, appraise and develop staff
 
Create and maintain an agency policy management framework and hierarchy, which includes maintaining a user-friendly, functional web-based policy portal
 
Compile and analyze statistical data as needed to develop statistical, evaluation and research reports
 
Perform other duties as assigned

Selective Preference(s):
The ideal candidate will possess two or more years of supervisory experience; have a bachelor’s degree or higher and three or more years of experience working in the policy and research field. Experience working in a law enforcement or corrections setting is preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current valid Arizona-issued driver’s license. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license records checks, maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
 
The successful candidate is required to complete the following:

Arizona residency is required for this position.
