Information Technology Student Trainee

The Information Technology Student Trainee position is a great way to gain federal experience while pursuing an education. The Student Trainee (Information Technology) Pathways Intern's typical work assignments may include:
  • Working under the guidance of and in close association with senior personnel performing a variety of work assignments consisting of established, specific, and related tasks that have been selected to orient the employee in the practical application of basic principles, concepts, and techniques of the occupational field. Assignments are chosen based on their progressive training value for the individual.
  • Performing a variety of regular and recurring assignments that involve providing assistance and support for assignments and projects relative to the delivery of information technology (IT) software applications and services to FHWA program offices and end-users.
  • Performing segments of project work as delegated by IT Project Managers (ITPMs) in activities such as drafting, collecting, and or distributing program and system documentation and status reports
  • Applying IT project management principles to identify potential risks and issues for review and action. 
  • Applying cybersecurity principles in identifying and documenting, and implementing project-level cybersecurity requirements.
