Human Resources Assistant (HR Development/OA)

Duties

WHO IS FINANCE AND MANAGEMENT (F&M)? Finance & Management) (F&M) supports the administrative, financial, and managerial programs of the Office of Chief Counsel and provides advice to the Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel on all management matters for the organization nationwide. F&M also has field responsibility for all administrative functions and personnel across the country. The Training and Communications Branch performs two vital functions for the Office: the design and delivery of high-quality training, and the facilitation of essential communication. Each of these functions serves our mission to enhance employee efficiency, effectiveness, and engagement.

WHAT IS THE PATHWAYS PROGRAM? The Department of the Treasury's Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.

Following the completion of program requirements, selectees may be considered for non-competitive conversion to a career-conditional or term appointment. All conversion requirements will be identified in the Participant Agreement. Program requirements include but are not limited to:
  • Successful completion of at least 1-year of continuous service;
  • Completion of at least 40 hours of interactive training;
  • Demonstration of successful job performance; and
  • Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Recent Graduate may be converted.

WHAT DOES A HR ASSISTANT DO?: As a HR Assistant, you will provide administrative and clerical support for the program and activities of the Training and Communications Division. You will gain experience with computer systems and databases - entering, retrieving and organizing information and documents and assist with all the support activities in the Training and Communications Branch.

The following are the duties of the Human Resources Assistant (HR Development/OA) at the GS-07. You will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this developmental position.
  • Answer questions from agencies, course participants, advisors, consultants, or resource persons, or organizations inside or outside of government on any administrative matter concerning the operation of HRD activities, course schedules, and related information;
  • Performs duties to support training courses;
  • Assist instructors by setting up and operating audiovisual equipment and distributing handouts;
  • Maintain training files;
  • Search for, assemble, and summarize information from files and documents in the office and from outside sources for the supervisor's use and to develop basic reports;
  • Maintain established records of HRD analysis data and reports, provide standard explanation of procedures and requirements, identify errors in data, and compile management data into prescribed formats.
