Administrative Support Specialist

This is NOT a remote work opportunity. The position is located in Indianapolis, IN. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination (within local commuting area and subject to management approval).


Duties


Assist with facilitating the New Employee Orientation process for the Indianapolis Site.

Assists managers with performance management topics such as timelines for performance ratings and using the performance evaluation workflow tool. Prepares project plans and manages internal suspense dates.

Develops and facilitates training classes for supervisors. Reviews and responds to participant feedback. Recommends and implements curriculum improvements as necessary. Schedules and conducts new manager assimilation and team building sessions.

Develops and maintains program guides and training agendas, documents learning objectives, coordinates training schedules and activities, conducts management surveys, and advises management on employee development challenges.

Conducts quality review of Requests for Personnel Action as well as special act awards submitted by a very diverse customer base.

Manages a variety of special projects by creating and executing plans of action and prioritizing multiple tasks effectively.

Prepares and presents briefings to senior leaders and large groups.

Qualifications


One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

GS-09 specialized experience is defined as: applying knowledge of rules, procedures, operations and functions of an organization in order to perform administrative work in a variety of administrative areas such as budget, personnel management, training, classroom support, initiating personnel actions, correspondence routing; project planning support or scheduling events.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-09) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
GS-11 specialized experience is defined as: interpreting and applying administrative management policies, regulations, and procedures to collaborate with budget, manpower, and administrative staff; providing classroom facilitation, project planning and/or providing administrative support.

Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.


Education


GS-9 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html).
