Summer Internship: Full Stack Developer

THE POSITION
Technology is the foundation of our work – and the work of every county employee. Be a part of our team in the Hennepin County Adult Representation Services (ARS) department to help our employees work smarter, faster, and better. The Adult Representation Services IT division is seeking a student currently enrolled in or a recent 6-months graduate in an associates or bachelor's degree program to participate in a part-time IT internship as an full stack developer intern. This position requires a level 3 security check as a requirement for employment. 

Location and hours: 
This position is on-site at 525 Portland Avenue South, Minneapolis 55415. Work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am – 4:30 pm. This internship will start in June 2022 and will last 6 months in duration. This intern will work approximately 20 hours/week.

In this position, you will:
  • Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful application design
  • Participate in all aspects of agile software development including design, implementation, and deployment

Need to have:
  • Current enrollment or recent 6-months graduate in an associate and bachelor's degree program in computer science or related fields
  • Experience building web applications
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs
  • Experience doing unit/integration testing
  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Angular
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills

Nice to have: 
  • Adept at web services standards and related technologies (JSON, SOAP, HTTP, XML, HTML5, CSS)
  • Working knowledge in unix and shell scripts
  • Knowledge in MVC, UI component/persistence frameworks (Spring, JSF, Hibernate)

The Adult Representative Services division reports directly to Public Safety and Justice as part of the County Administration Department.
